Modern In-Law Suite Basement Remodel in Lake Forest Park 

Goals: To breathe new life into an existing daylight basement, create a comfortable in-law suite perfectly suited for visiting family members. 

The lower level of this Lake Forest Park family home already had an existing layout of a bedroom, a bathroom, and a family room with kitchenette, but the finishes were outdated and worn out by years of use. It was time for a refresh! 

Starting in the family room, we replaced all the finishes to be more contemporary and low maintenance. The kitchenette layout changes slightly in order to offer more storage and custom cabinets.  Whether for a movie night or a long stay, snacks and beverages can be conveniently accessed in the kitchenette, so guests have a private area to enjoy. 

The warmth and glow of the fireplace adds to the cozy nature of this light-filled space.  A private entrance is another convenient feature of this lower level. 

In the refreshed bathroom, the old sliding glass doors and bathtub were removed in favor of a gorgeous and modern walk-in custom shower.  Fully tiled in large-format ceramic tiles and enclosed with clear glass panels, the shower is a simple and sophisticated upgrade from the original pink and white walls! 

At the stairwell, upgraded railings and new wood treads bring the new lower-level details to the rest of the home.
